Welded Block Technology

Compabloc Welded PHE

Fully welded plate heat transfer in a compact block. Engineered for high temperature duties and designed with direct access for mechanical cleaning.

High Pressure Duty. Direct Mechanical Access

The Compabloc is a welded plate heat exchanger designed for mechanical cleanability. Engineered for high temperature and high pressure applications in oil, gas, and chemical processing, it combines the thermal efficiency of plate heat exchangers with the structural robustness of shell and tube units.

The removable side panels provide direct access to the plate pack for cleaning and inspection. This cleanability helps maintain design thermal performance over the equipment's entire operating lifecycle.

Compabloc Welded PHE

Technical Characteristics

Thermal Efficiency

Provides three to five times the heat transfer rate per unit area compared to conventional shell and tube exchangers.

Compact Footprint

Requires approximately 10% of the physical space of a shell and tube unit of equivalent capacity, reducing structural support requirements.

Mechanical Cleanability

Supports Clean in Place (CIP) regimes and features removable side panels that allow direct mechanical cleaning of all four channels.

Operating Parameters

  • Operating temperature range up to 400C
  • Design pressure capabilities up to 42 bar
  • Corrosion resistant materials including SS316, Titanium, and Hastelloy
  • Fully welded plate pack eliminates inter plate gaskets, reducing leak risk
  • Configurable as a condenser, reboiler, or liquid to liquid heat exchanger

Process Applications

Engineered for complex chemical and petrochemical processing:

  • Crude oil fractionation and refinery preheat trains
  • Reactor temperature control loops
  • Overhead steam condensation in distillation columns
  • Solvent extraction and chemical recovery loops

Optimise Process Thermal Efficiency

Transition from high maintenance shell and tube units to compact, cleanable Compabloc technology for severe service duties.
